Retiring Bookkeeper ("we") is a CPA-led firm. This page explains what we collect through this website, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with Canada's federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
What you send us
Through the enquiry form we collect only what you type in: which side of a retirement you're on, your name, email address, the timing you choose, and, if you add them, a client count or company name and a phone number.
We don't ask for, and you shouldn't send through the form, social insurance numbers, account numbers, client lists, or financial statements.
How we use it
To reply to you and, if you go ahead, to plan the handover. We don't sell your information or pass it to other firms.
What is collected automatically
We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site, such as which pages are read and where visitors drop off, so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology to collect:
- the pages you visit, how long you stay, and the site that referred you
- your device type, browser, and screen size
- your approximate location (city or region), estimated from your IP address
These cookies are set by Google and can last up to two years. Analytics reports are about visits in aggregate; we don't use them to identify you, and we don't combine them with what you send through the form.
We have not enabled Google's advertising features (Google signals and ad personalization), and we don't use advertising cookies or show ads.
Where it's stored
Form submissions are processed by our website host, Netlify, and forwarded to our email. Analytics data is processed by Google. Both providers may store data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to local law. If you become a client, your information is kept with our client records.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries only as long as we need them to respond and, if you become a client, as long as our professional record-keeping obligations require. Google Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in our analytics settings, then deleted automatically.
Your choices
- Opt out of analytics. Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same without them.
- Access, correction, deletion. Ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your enquiry at any time. Reply to any email from us, or send a note through the enquiry form.
- Concerns. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If we change how we collect or use information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
